- Bousouzoku is the Japanese version of American Harley gangs.
- Unlike American motorcycle gangs, bousouzoku go very very slowly.
- They also like to swerve around on their motorcycles.
- Bousouzoku’s motorcycles also make a lot of noise because they don’t have mufflers.
- If you’re new to Japan, you may think, Oh those poor kids! They can’t afford to fix their motorcycles.
- However your sympathy won’t last very long…
- Bousouzoku love to ride at night and be as loud as possible to keep everyone awake.
- After a week of no sleep, you may be tempted to shoot bousouzoku from your balcony.
- Bousouzoku members are usually young.
- They are also not very academically inclined either. If they were, they would be in cram schools.
- You should never attack a bousouzoku member. Bousouzoku travel in a big group (even if you don’t see the others) and if you fight one, you have to fight them all.
- Now if you are Jet Li, the above scenario is probably okay.
- I’ve yet to see the local police arrest bousouzoku.

Very interesting! I love learning new things about other cultures–particularly everyday things like this.

Well…That sorta kills my desire to go to Japan.
LOL!
I can get that sort of thing (loud obnoxious people on motorized vehicles) here! Why travel?
Fun list, though - very funny stuff!
Ciao!

huh…
now I’m intrigued. I want to know more!! Do they have fancy jackets, like Harley riders or the Pink Ladies have?
Comment by December — May 15, 2008 @ 11:16 pm
Leather jackets are very very expensive here. Most of them have heavily gelled spiky and bleached hair.

Sounds like you have first hand experience with these gangs… though they don’t sound very polite, your list made me giggle especially #12.

What happens to them when they get older?

Well, I like the part about how they go slowly.

Erg! I hate hearing things like this. It’s guys like that who give all bikers a bad rap.
Happy T13!

Alice,
When they become older, they join the local yakuza (usually).

Arg! We have these kids in Korea too. There’s like two, sometimes three on the same bike, and they have that really, really, REALLY, annoying honk that sounds like a butchered version of ‘La Cucaracha’.

You should just call them national disgrace…
Comment by Angelle — May 17, 2008 @ 10:50 am
Sound like they need to have their tires flattened.
